For Shiawassee and Genesee county, 6 to 9 inches of snow is expected, but for other counties in the warning area, even more is possible. Clinton county should expect 8 to 12 inches of snow, the agency says, and with gusty winds, blowing and drifting will be a significant problem for all counties in the warning area.

Monday's snow event kicks off a winter weather week in which temperatures are expected to plunge into single digit highs, on some days barely breaking the zero degree mark. Wind chills, meanwhile, could bottom out as low as 42 below, and will likely ride 20 degrees below zero all week long.
Some school districts in Shiawassee County, including Owosso, have already cancelled classes for Monday, and alerted parents that more days off because of winter weather are very likely through the week.
The National Weather Service advises travel will be hazardous or impossible and cautions drivers if you must be on the road, take with you a flashlight and extra food and water, in case of an emergency.
