Samuel Darling of Muskegon ran his first Owosso Glow 5K this year and, of the 160 participants -- the most ever, organizers say -- was the first across the finish line.  Minutes later, Evie Wright of Corunna was the second runner across the finish line.

Darling was in town visiting relatives and decided to participate in this year's run.

Darling crossed the finish line at the 18:28.4 mark.  Wright followed at 20.38.1, and just after crossing the finish line, backtracked down the route a bit to cheer on her good friend, Simon Freeman, also of Corunna, who crossed the finish line at 23:11.9.  Freeman took first place in the M 15-19 division.

The Glow 5k was immediately followed by the Glow Parade and the lighting of the Christmas tree, the city's largest ever, standing at 37 feet, it was announced.
