Saginaw Township Police Officer Jeff Koenig was shot in the face during a traffic stop on Tuesday morning, January 22nd.
Authorities announced his identity in a news conference just before noon.
Keonig is a 16 year veteran of the department and was working the night shift when he encountered the suspect vehicle at around 2am.
Despite his serious injuries, he was able to radio vehicle information to dispatch.
Officer Koenig was last reported to be in critical but stable condition.
The shooter, believed to be 29 year old Joshua Rosebush of Vassar, was captured in Shiawassee County after an 11 hour manhunt that took police from Saginaw to Flint before leading them to Shiawassee County's western edge, where Rosebush was captured after being shot by police.
Our prayers are with Officer Koenig, his family and law enforcement across the state and pray his shooter is brought to justice.
