Shiawassee Arts Center Hosts 31st Annual Event

The 31st annual SAC Holiday Along the River opened to the public on Sunday, November 10th and runs through Sunday, December 31st at the Shiawassee Arts Center.

 Nearly 100 Michigan artists will be displaying and selling their original artwork, unique gift items and holiday decorations. Shoppers are sure to find gifts at affordable prices for everyone on their gift lists.

Special events during the show include the annual Children’s Day, Sunday, December 8th, 2-4pm with art activities, refreshments, live music, book signing, gingerbread house display and a visit by Santa. SAC is offering three children’s Gingerbread House classes - Thursday, December 5th, 4-5:30pm, Saturday, December 7th, 10-11:30am and also 11-12:30pm. In addition, a silent auction with wonderful gift baskets and a large doll house are available. Bidding ends Wednesday, December 18th at 5pm. SAC gift cards are available. The Arts Center is available for rent for special events, meetings and holiday parties.

The Shiawassee Arts Center, located at 206 Curwood Castle Drive in Owosso, is open Monday through Friday, 12-5pm, Saturday and Sunday, 12-4pm. The Arts Center features the artwork of local and statewide artists in eight galleries including the Frieseke Gallery and a specialty Gift Shop. The public is welcome and there is no admission charge. SAC, which is celebrating its 47th anniversary in 2019, is a non-profit organization whose mission is to educate, entertain and enrich the quality of life in our community. O-Town Cafe closed in early September and at the time he and his wife made the decision to close, owner Steven Cohen said there was another party interested in the space and they would be moving in soon. He didn't specify who or what that party was.
