Alert Citizen Spots Alligator In O Town -- Reptile's Second Escape In Two Days -- Authorities Corral Gator, Cite Owner

"On July 15th an alert citizen spotted an alligator in Owosso and called police," the City of Owosso said in a statement on Wednesday, noting that the alligator, which escaped from its cage at a nearby residence on Hamblin Street, had also escaped its cage the day prior. On both occasions, authorities were able to locate, corral and return the alligator to its owner. However, the owner has been cited, as Owosso ordinance prohibits keeping alligators as pets.
Ya know. That ol' alligator ordinance.

The owner is now looking to donate the pet gator to a pet sanctuary. The City of Owosso credited Shiawassee County Animal Control with assisting Owosso Police in capturing the gator.
