Congress Explores Support for Ag Producers and Rural Communities

On April 12th, House Agriculture Committee Chairman Mike Conaway introduced the 2018 Farm Bill. Congress works on a Farm Bill every five years to support rural communities and the men and women who grow America's food.
Congressman John Moolenaar welcomed the introduction of the Farm Bill and made the following statement:

"This year, I have been meeting with farmers to hear about the challenges they are facing. The Farm Bill provides critical support for the farmers in our district and it will support new farmers as they start out in agriculture. It will also benefit our rural communities with infrastructure initiatives and more than $582 million in yearly funding to improve rural Internet access."
He went on to say "I want to thank Chairman Conaway and the Agriculture Committee for their work introducing this legislation. I will continue to follow developments as it moves through Congress and I hope farmers will continue to contact me with their concerns regarding this legislation."

Owosso's new City Manager, Nathan Henne, was issued the oath of office by Mayor Chris Eveleth at a special swearing in ceremony at Curwood Castle on the evening of Wednesday March 28th.
