Teddy Joe Hunt, 82 of Venice Township, Michigan, formerly of Paragould Arkansas, died Monday at his residence. He followed his brothers, Paul and Roy to Flint, Michigan where he retired from General Motors after 27 years. Ted was an active Baptist and most of all he loved the Lord. He was born on February 10, 1937 to Luther and Emma Sharley Hunt in Paragould.
Ted was a former Policeman with the Paragould Police Department. He was an avid softball player in the senior league in Michigan. He played sports until he was 78 years old. He loved woodcrafts, craft shows, gardening, especially his tomatoes and green beans. He dearly loved his three dogs who will miss him. He was a loyal Paragould Bulldog and Bull Pup playing baseball, basketball and football and was featured in the Paragould Daily Press multiple times.
He was preceded in death by his parents; sister Blanche Hollowell; and two brothers James Roy Hunt and Paul Junior Hunt.
Ted met his first wife and mother of his children, Betty Jo (Elizabeth Jolene Daffron) in 1956 and they were married on June 2, 1956, in Paragould, AR. They met while Ted was working on a Wonder Bread truck in St. Francis, Arkansas. Ted and Betty Jo were married for twenty six years.
Survivors include his wife, Janice of the home; sister Rheba Hunt; nieces Elaine Hunt Worden and Sandra Hollowell Wheeless both of Paragould, AR; nephews Paul Hunt and Keith Hunt of Michigan; sons, Ted "Andy" Hunt of Ellsinore, Missouri, Christopher Hunt of Tampa, Florida and Mitchell Hunt and his wife Dawn of Durand, Michigan; daughter, Melanie Hunt of Pleasant Hill, California; and two grandsons, Christopher Hunt and Matthew Hunt and his wife Madysen of Durand, Michigan.
Visitation will be Saturday from 11:30 - 1:00 PM at Heath Funeral Home. Burial will follow in Memorial Gardens Cemetery.
Memorials may be sent to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital in Memphis.
